There are so many video and DVD compilations available through the Baby Einstein Company I can’t even keep track anymore. The original video, Baby Einstein, focuses on language development. If our daughter is any gauge on the effectiveness of this video, then Baby Einstein gets an A+. When she was learning to talk people always commented on how articulate she was. Now she has a rather advanced vocabulary and never stops talking. Baby Einstein has songs, the alphabet, counting and rhymes in seven different languages. Whimsical toys, puppets, and stuffed animals accompany these jingles to make it appealing to babies. We started these videos when our daughter was three months old. She was absolutely glued to the television. Many moms have told me their children were captivated by these videos as well. Have no fear - our child is by no means a couch potato!

We have also seen the benefits of Baby Van Gogh. At 2 1/2 years old she saw a reproduction of “The Starry Night” in Neil Waldman’s book by the the same name. She pointed to the picture and said, “Van Gogh painted that.” Baby Van Gogh focuses on each color and incorporates Van Gogh’s exquisite artwork.
